WE ARE “HHOC MORTGAGE”

Hawaii HomeOwnership Center (HHOC) is a HUD-Approved Counseling Agency and non-profit organization created in 2003 to increase the number of homeowners in Hawaii through classes, coaching, access to resources, and post-purchase services. 

The awareness of the challenges of buying a home in Hawaii – particularly for low-moderate income borrowers – compelled HHOC to create HHOC Mortgage in 2008 knowing that financing products are vehicles to provide first-time buyers with an affordable monthly payment and ability to qualify for enough financing to purchase a home.

Company Profile

HHOC Mortgage’s staff is focused on the needs of first-time homebuyers.  We know that financing products can be a vehicle to an affordable monthly payment for borrowers and have created our own down payment and closing cost assistance programs.  We are also familiar with programs for first-time buyers offered through the government and other sources.

HHOC Mortgage’s niche products are designed for low-moderate, first-time buyers who need financing with low down payment requirements.  HHOC Mortgage is designated as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) by the U.S. Treasury and received loan capital through the CDFI Fund.  Additional funds were received from NeighborWorks America via HHOC.

HHOC Mortgage also provides financial support to Hawaii HomeOwnership Center to enable continuance of its mission to provide prospective home buyers with homeownership education and counseling.

HHOC Mortgage provides financial support to Hawaii HomeOwnership Center to ensure continuance of financial education and counseling for first-time buyers.

As first time homebuyers, we wouldn’t have been able to do it without the help of HHOC and their team, especially our loan officer, Cathy Lee. It has been a long time dream of ours to purchase a home but we didn’t think we’d be able to afford it. We did everything possible to save money to put towards a home but there were always set backs. On our journey to becoming homeowners, we were blessed to come across HHOC and learn about their programs and all they have to offer. From our very first meeting, Cathy was very helpful and it showed that she really cared about our family. She was there every step of the way, answered all our questions, and was very patient. At the tail end of our journey towards homeownership, I was 9 months pregnant and worried about getting everything done before our baby arrived. Cathy made us feel confident about the process and along with the help of Cori, they pushed to get everything done. With their guidance and support we closed on our home a week before my due date!
